IWS Chess, STEM, and Mentorship Program with Chess in Slum

On November 15th, 2022, Mrs. Bella Disu, founder of the BDF, extended her support to the International Women Society (IWS) in their impactful STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) and Chess programs. Additionally, she initiated a mentorship program to empower young girls with valuable life skills and guidance.

 

IWS STEM Program: Nurturing Future Innovators

The STEM program commenced on March 18th, 2022, at the IWS Secretariat in Lekki, engaging 50 young minds eager to explore the fascinating world of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. Throughout the year, 36 of these participants exhibited dedication and enthusiasm, participating actively in enriching workshops and educational activities.

 

BDF's Support for the STEM Program

The Bella Disu Foundation recognized the transformative potential of the STEM program and extended financial support of on March 3rd, 2022, ensuring the continuation and expansion of this essential initiative.

IWS Chess Program: Fostering Strategic Thinkers

Concurrently, the Chess program at IWS unfolded as a platform to nurture strategic thinking and problem-solving skills in young minds. The engaging and intellectually stimulating nature of chess captivated the participants, fostering not only a passion for the game but also sharpening their cognitive abilities.

Building Strong Foundations: The STEM Program Continues

The second term of the STEM program commenced at our Day Nursery in Yaba on April 28th, 2022, with 46 enthusiastic participants (30 girls and 16 boys). The girls in the program were equipped with the confidence and knowledge to pursue their passions fearlessly.
